Photography is my passion - nature is my refuge. Combine the two, and that is where I am most at peace. Some of us can find the courage for creativity when we are young, and for others it takes years or decades to turn onto this path. Luckily for me, I've found mine at a young age. My name is Stevin Mulimi, and I am a portrait photographer based in Galesburg, Illinois.  As a 16 year old, I love to take pictures of  people and be the part of their story, trying to convey a unique inner world of each person who I meet on my journey.

Of course, there's those who don't take my work seriously due to my age. There's people out there who are bond to the idea that in order to be considered a 'great' photographer, one must own an expensive gear, and be old...around their 20s- as this shows they have more experience etc. If you're one of those people, I'm here to prove you wrong. I'm here to remind you that it is not the camera, it's the photographer. It's not the age, it's simply the ability to "see" things better than others and create beautiful images that stirs a deep emotional response in the viewer.

To me, age is just a number. A camera is just a tool. I may struggle to explain aperture, ISO, or shutter speed, but I can still go out into the world and create stunning photographs. The camera's price, or inner workings does not stand in my way of capturing compelling images. I have the ability to see a picture in my head and then use the camera to bring that vision to life. Vice versa, there are those who can explain, in detail, the wiring diagram of their fancy camera, yet they lack the ability to capture an image that provokes a positive response!
